EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern University has issued a shelter and place alert after a shooting Wednesday evening just south of the university's Evanston campus.According to a tweet, the university said police are investigating shots fired at Clark Street Beach. CLEVELAND (AP) — Umpire Larry Vanover is expected to be hospitalized overnight after being hit in the head with a relay throw on Wednesday in a “scary” moment during the New York Yankees game against the Cleveland Guardians.Vanover is being evaluated for a concussion and other injuries at the Cleveland Clinic, where he was taken shortly after a routine play turned into something more.The 67-year-old Vanover, who was working second base, was knocked down on the infield grass by the throw from Guardians All-Star second baseman Andrés Giménez, who wheeled and fired toward the plate. TROY, N.Y (NEWS10)- Three individuals, including a juvenile, are currently in local area hospitals after a shooting near Corliss Park took place around 8:30 Wednesday evening. Troy police department has confirmed an adult age woman, adult age man, and a juvenile male are victims and their conditions are currently unknown.At this time, the shooter is in custody and there is no danger to the public. There will be a police presence in the area of Corliss park for the next two to three hours while police investigate. It appears this is not a random act, and is tied to an earlier disturbance. Mike Parson wants to spend some of the state's multi-billion-dollar surplus to widen parts of Interstates 70, but the Senate's budget chair is proposing to add an extra lane throughout the entire state. Top law enforcement officials from Riverside County, as well as the district attorney from a nearby county, held a press conference Wednesday where they leveled strong criticism against the perceived revolving door of justice in the state. Pointing to a rise in crime, officials said offenders are released from jail too frequently. Security cameras captured the shocking moment a driver hits a child crossing the street in Santa Ana before speeding away.The hit-and-run happened on March 29 as two young boys were walking home from school.The crash left an 11-year-old boy hospitalized as the suspect driver remains at large.
