OAKLAND — A 31-year-old man was fatally shot Sunday evening in East Oakland, the city’s third homicide of the day, authorities said.His name was not immediately released. None of the killings are believed to be related, police said.The 31-year-old man was shot about 5:42 p.m. Sunday outside in the 5800 block of Bancroft Avenue after getting into an argument with another man, authorities said. He died at the scene.The suspect fled before police could respond. Investigators did not specify what they believed the argument was about.The killing is the 71st homicide investigated by Oakland police this year and was the third within a 15-hour period Sunday. Residents are searching for somewhere to sleep tonight after a three-alarm fire broke out at a three-story building in College Park, Maryland, on Monday morning.Prince George’s County Fire and EMS told WTOP that the extent of the flames caused the roof to collapse.Two adult residents have hospitalized with minor injuries, according to fire department officials. No firefighters have been hurt.Crews were dispatched to the 10100 block of Baltimore Avenue shortly after 8 a.m., according to the Prince George’s County fire department. DENVER (KDVR) -- Two officers charged in relation to Elijah McClain's death in Aurora in 2019 have had some of their charges reduced.McClain, 23, was wearing a mask when someone called 911 to report that he seemed suspicious. According to his family and friends, McClain often wore the mask while jogging. He was not committing a crime and was unarmed when police approached him. From 2022: Elijah McClain’s death caused by ketamine, amended autopsy says McClain was confronted by police officers, injected with ketamine by paramedics and later died.Jason Rosenblatt and Randy Roedema were two of the officers at the scene that night. The Broward Sheriff’s Office responded to calls of a barricaded person in Lauderdale Lakes. Authorities attempted to talk someone out of a vehicle along the 4600 block of West Oakland Park Boulevard around noon after a short police pursuit ended in a crash. Moments later, police arrested the subject.As a result of the incident, deputies blocked off the road as they investigate the situation to make sure no other person fled from the car. A 60-year-old woman is facing charges of child neglect and battery after she allegedly grabbed a 4-month-old baby out of a stroller at the Aventura Mall, Sunday. According to the arrest report, Martha Pratt, of Aventura, walked up to a woman and her infant child while they were at the mall with the child’s father. Without warning, Pratt reportedly grabbed the baby by the shirt while the child was inside the stroller. The mother of the child, attempted to defend her baby and push Pratt away. During this interaction, Pratt allegedly smacked the mother’s right hand, causing her pain and discomfort. The mother’s husband reported that Pratt was yelling obscenities at the scene and expressed intentions to take the baby before fleeing the mall.Officers were able to locate Martha Pratt in the parking lot of the Aventura Branch Library, adjacent to the Aventura Mall property, based on a clothing description from a lookout order.
