ATLANTA (AP) — Arthur Smith’s response to his first postgame question regarding Desmond Ridder was quick and strong.“Pretty damn good,” the Atlanta Falcons’ coach said Sunday of his quarterback’s performance in the win over Houston.Smith could have added Ridder’s showing also was important for the quarterback and the team.Ridder’s play lifted the performance of his teammates, including tight end Kyle Pitts and wide receiver Drake London, casting a more optimistic outlook on the season. The 21-19 win over the Texans doesn’t place the Falcons (3-2) in conversations with San Francisco, Philadelphia or Detroit as the most impressive teams in the NFC. But the win does provide hope the Falcons can end their streak of five consecutive losing seasons and return to the playoffs for the first time since 2017.Thanks to Ridder’s career-best 329 yards passing, the Falcons at least temporarily shed their image as a run-first — or even run-only — offense. SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — The frustration from back-to-back playoff losses to San Francisco that both ended on odd plays turned to humiliation for the Dallas Cowboys.Hoping to prove themselves against a fellow NFC contender in a showdown against the 49ers, the Cowboys were run off the field almost from the start. The defense that had been so stingy the first four weeks was completely exposed. The offense took more than a quarter to gain even a single first down and couldn’t move the ball or protect it.It added up to a 42-10 loss to the 49ers on Sunday night that was the most lopsided ever for Dallas in this storied rivalry and that raised more questions about whether the Cowboys are a viable threat to get back to the Super Bowl for the first time in more than a quarter-century.“It’s a punch in the gut, it’s a kick the in the (butt), whatever phrase you want to put on it,” coach Mike McCarthy said. “They beat us in all three phases.”Dak Prescott was under pressure from San Fran...La tormenta tropical Lidia se dirige a la costa oeste de México
